Pet Teeth Cleanings for Dogs, Cats & Exotic Pets

A healthy mouth is more than a bright smile; it’s essential to your pet’s overall wellness. We provide comprehensive pet dental care for pets of all species. From routine teeth cleanings to advanced oral surgery, our team is here to catch issues early, relieve discomfort, and protect your pet’s long-term health. Dental disease is one of the most common health problems in pets, and one of the most preventable. Whether your pet is showing signs of oral pain or it’s just time for their annual cleaning, we’re here to help.

What to Expect During Your Pet's Dental Procedure

To ensure a thorough and pain-free experience, all dental cleanings are performed under general anesthesia. We begin with a full physical exam and pre-anesthetic bloodwork to confirm your pet is healthy enough for the procedure. Once under anesthesia, your pet is kept warm with a heated air blanket to help maintain their body temperature for faster recovery. We use both ultrasonic and hand instruments to remove tartar and plaque from all surfaces of the teeth, including beneath the gumline. Afterward, we polish the enamel to help prevent future buildup.

Digital dental X-rays allow us to assess root health and detect hidden issues, such as abscesses or bone loss. If any teeth need to be extracted, we’ll reach out to you first and proceed with gentle, precise surgical removal and appropriate pain management. We also perform exotic pet dental procedures for rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, and other unique pets on a regular basis, including molar and incisor trims, abscess treatments, and oral tumor surgeries.

Pet Dental Cleanings

Routine dental cleanings remove harmful plaque and tartar buildup while keeping your pet’s breath fresh and their gums healthy. Cleanings are a key part of preventing painful periodontal disease and organ damage.

Dental X-Rays

X-rays help us evaluate the health of your pet’s teeth below the surface. We can identify bone loss, fractured roots, and other concerns that aren’t visible during a visual exam.

Extractions & Oral Surgery

When teeth are loose, infected, or damaged, extraction may be the best option to restore comfort and prevent further complications. We perform everything from simple extractions to oral surgeries, including abscess treatment and tumor removal in exotic species.

FAQs

Most pets benefit from cleanings once a year. Small dogs, senior pets, or those with known dental problems may need more frequent care. We’ll help create a plan based on your pet’s needs.

Yes. Anesthesia allows us to clean beneath the gumline and take dental X-rays safely, while ensuring your pet is comfortable and pain-free throughout the procedure.

Bad breath, difficulty eating, red gums, loose teeth, facial swelling, or pawing at the mouth can all be signs your pet has dental problems. If you notice any of these, give us a call.

Daily tooth brushing is ideal, but we also recommend dental chews, prescription dental diets, and water additives to support oral health between professional cleanings.
